So I have been an acupuncturist for about 16 years now and I end up hearing a lot about what's going on with people on a pretty deep level--mostly because I ask pretty deep questions. For the past year or so, I have had an extremely high number of patients complain about anxiety. These are people that if I met them in any other venue I would never in a million years guess that they were dealing with this level of emotional discomfort. I, myself, have suffered from anxiety and I find it the most debilitating and life ruining feeling--I just hate it. So what's the deal? Why are so many of us experiencing this? Well, I've been thinking about this and trying to put my finger on it so bear with me. Today I came up with the thesis that it is Mother Energy that is missing. Our culture has become a distant father that is ever satisfied with us no matter what we do--no matter what we achieve, it is never enough. Zero feeling of unconditional love. We can't live this way, hence the skyrocketing suicide rates and depression and most of all, ANXIETY. This is not how it's supposed to be. We are not getting enough mother energy so, in turn, we are not able to give it. It goes around and around spiraling down into more and more despair and violence. How do we turn this around? I am seeking an answer.
What is up with all of this ANXIETY??

I hope you were able to get some answers today. One of the great things about Chinese Medicine is the ability to connect all the symptoms a patient is experiencing and treating them all at the same time. Typically one effects the other so it is important to address them simultaneously. Most of my patients do acupuncture alone so it is not a problem to skip the herbs.
Thank you, Audrey. I am very interested in the acupuncture but Leary of the herbs. My body I started is very sensitive to medications and herbs that is why I am interested in acupuncture. I am seeing a gastroenterologist tomorrow for the first time. I don’t know if my anxiety is first starting the stomach issues which cause the heart issues or vice versa. Maybe the Vaga nerve involved? Hoping to find out something tomorrow. I have a lot of other symptoms on top of this because I quit a medication cold turkey when I should have tapered gradually. One of your patients highly recommended you. I will give you a call when I find out more. Thank you …
In Chinese Medicine, anxiety is considered the result of an imbalance in the heart system. The heart system in Chinese medicine doesn't exactly line up with what is considered the heart system in western medicine but it is close. The heart system is also paired with the Small Intestine in this paradigm, so congratulations, you intuitively asked the exact correct questions and can clearly feel that connection going on in your own body. Acupuncture and sometimes herbs are used to treat this imbalance. Insomnia is also often a part of the picture. I have had many patients come to me for anxiety and have seen great results I am grateful to say. As I said in my blog, I …
